為什麼今天 3 月 31 日是國際透明可見日？
每年的 3 月 31 日都是國際透明日，
旨在提高人們對反對歧視的認識
跨性別者並且更了解他們的現實。

活動人士雷切爾·克蘭德爾 (Rachel Crandall) 在 2009 年選擇了慶祝跨性別者知名度的日期，因為需要提高人們對該社區生活條件的認識。

當時，在活動家提出提案之前唯一已知的事件是國際變性記憶日，這一天人們紀念和哀悼因仇恨犯罪而失去的群體成員。

因此，雖然有一個慶祝社區成員的活動，但他們已經死了，而那些活著的人的跨性別可見度和他們的成就卻沒有得到認可。
