今天，5 月 17 日，是國際反同性戀恐懼症、變性恐懼症和雙性戀恐懼日，以慶祝 1990 年 5 月 17 日舉行的世界衛生組織 (WHO) 大會將同性戀從精神疾病清單中刪除。 2015年，「雙性戀恐懼症」被納入該運動的名稱中。
該節日於 2004 年制定。這一天是由愛達荷州委員會在全球範圍內協調的，該委員會設在巴黎，由學者路易斯-喬治·丁（Louis-Georges Tin）創立。
2013年，該活動在100多個國家舉辦。它也得到許多國家、地方當局和國際機構（包括歐洲議會）的正式認可。
2016年，委內瑞拉國民議會頒布法令，將5月17日定為「反同性戀恐懼症、跨性別恐懼症和雙性戀恐懼症國際日」。
2005年，IDAHOBIT在從法國到香港的40多個國家舉辦。發起了各種各樣的舉措並得到了媒體的廣泛報導。在伊朗，儘管政府存在殘酷的同性戀恐懼症，但許多網路部落格和數千封電子郵件仍在討論《愛達荷州》。在烏克蘭基輔，一個巨大的氣球被釋放，上面寫著：“對同性戀恐懼症說不。”
