Anal Toys for Couples: How to Choose and Explore Together

Anal Toys for Couples: How to Choose and Explore Together

Choosing anal toys for couples is not the same as choosing one for yourself. There is a second person's comfort, curiosity and limits in the decision, and sometimes a remote control that passes from one hand to the other. In my practice, couples who plan this together usually have a better time than those who try to surprise each other. Here is how to compare the types, choose together and use them safely.

Disclosure: The clinical guidance is my own professional opinion, and I mention limitations as well as strengths. Specifications are taken from SVAKOM's product pages at the time of writing and may change.

If you are new to anal play, SVAKOM already covers the basics in its guides to the best anal vibrator for beginners, why anal sex can hurt and anal orgasms. This guide is about how two people choose and use a toy together.

Anal Toys for Couples: Which Type Fits You?

Most anal toys for couples fall into four families, and many toys combine two of them. Use this table to start the conversation, not as a ranking.

Type Good for Keep in mind SVAKOM example
Anal plug (non-vibrating) A first step, hands-free wear, couples who want to focus on each other Sensation is static. Needs a flared base and a size you can both agree is small enough to start Check the current anal toys collection
Vibrating or thrusting toy Couples who want more sensation without manual effort More settings to learn. Motors can be audible, so check the noise level before relying on it Jordan (thrusting and vibration)
Remote or app-controlled toy Sharing control in the room or at a distance Needs charged batteries and, for app use, a Bluetooth connection. Agree beforehand when it is fine to switch it on Jordan and Vick Neo 2
Prostate massager Partners with a prostate who want more targeted stimulation Shaped around prostate anatomy, so less suited to partners without one. Some people find the shape firm Vick Neo 2 (also Iker Neo in the collection)

Whatever you choose, any toy used anally needs a flared base. Without one, a toy can slip inside and may need medical removal. Check the insertable size in the specifications and begin with the smallest size you both feel comfortable with.

Choosing and Sharing Control with Anal Toys for Couples

Talk before you shop, outside the bedroom and without pressure. These points help:

  • Choose together. Look at the size, the material, the noise level and how easy it is to clean. A "yes" to a toy is a "yes" to that toy, not to everything else.
  • Decide who holds the control. A common approach is for the receiving partner to hold the remote at first and hand it over when it feels right. For long-distance or app control, agree in advance when it is fine to switch it on.
  • Agree on stop signals. A traffic light works well: green to continue, yellow to slow down, red to stop. The receiving partner can stop at any moment, and the stop is respected straight away.
  • Name your limits. For example, whether the toy is for private use only, and whether anyone else may have access to the app.
  • Skip alcohol and drugs. They dull sensation and make it harder to notice discomfort or to give clear consent.

Consent is ongoing, and it matters, but it does not make a toy safe on its own. Safety also depends on lubricant, a suitable size, a flared base and hygiene.

Two SVAKOM Options to Compare: Jordan and Vick Neo 2

These two toys show how different the options are. The details below come from the official product pages, and the limitations from customer reviews on those same pages. You can see the whole range in the SVAKOM anal toys collection.

Jordan: thrusting and vibration to explore together

  • Jordan has a slim shaft, a cushioned head and a wide, illuminated base. The insertable part measures 100 x 32 x 32 mm.
  • It has one thrusting mode, one vibration mode and five combined modes, each with five intensities, plus an Intelligent Mode that mimics sexual rhythms.
  • You can use the magnetic remote or the SVAKOM App, including long distance, which suits couples who want to share control.
  • The vibrator is rated IPX7 (submersible up to 1 meter). The remote is not waterproof.
  • Limitations: the battery lasts about an hour after a two-hour charge. Some reviewers find the motors noisy and the controls slow to learn, so it may not suit thin walls or a very simple first try.

Vick Neo 2: heated prostate stimulation with optional perineal massage

  • Vick Neo 2 is designed for prostate stimulation. Its neck twists 180 degrees to add perineal massage, or not. The insertable part measures 80 x 30 mm.
  • It offers five vibration modes with five intensities, plus an Intelligent Mode, and a heating function at 38 °C.
  • It comes with a magnetic remote, works with the SVAKOM App and can sync with the KooSync App. It is rated IPX7. Battery life is about two hours after a 2.5-hour charge.
  • Limitations: because it is built around prostate anatomy, it suits couples where the receiving partner has a prostate. Some reviewers find the higher settings loud, the shape firm or the battery modest.

Prostate stimulation is sexual, not therapeutic. If you have prostate problems or have had pelvic surgery, speak to your doctor first. For more on this area, see SVAKOM's guides to prostate orgasms and perineum stimulation.

Using and Cleaning Anal Toys for Couples Safely

  1. Use plenty of water-based lubricant and reapply it. The anus does not self-lubricate. Avoid silicone-based lubricants with silicone toys, and remember that oil-based products can weaken latex condoms.
  2. Warm up on the outside first, start at the lowest intensity and go slowly. Stop at sharp pain or burning.
  3. Wash your hands, and clean the toy after every use with warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner. Dry it and store it in its pouch. Keep the remote away from water.
  4. If a toy is shared, put a new condom on it for each person. Never go from anal to vaginal use without changing the condom or cleaning the toy thoroughly, because bacteria from the rectum can cause vaginal or urinary infections. Many couples prefer separate toys.
  5. Avoid numbing creams. They remove the warning signal that tells you something is wrong.

Pain is a signal, not a hurdle

Pain during anal sex is common and often goes unmentioned. In a 2012 U.S. national survey, among people whose most recent sexual event included anal intercourse, about 72% of women and 15% of men reported pain during it. Women more often reported moderate or severe pain, and large proportions of people did not tell their partner when sex hurt (Herbenick et al., 2015). The survey covers intercourse, not toys, but the lesson applies.

Causes vary. Too little lubricant, going too fast or a toy that is too large are frequent ones, and tension can play a part. But pain can also come from fissures, hemorrhoids or infection, so it should never be put down to the person "not relaxing". Stop, and see a professional if pain persists or if there is bleeding that does not stop quickly. If a toy becomes stuck and you cannot remove it easily, seek medical care and do not force it.

On lubricant, a five-week daily diary study of 2,453 women found that water-based products were linked to fewer genital symptoms than silicone-based ones. For anal intercourse, only water-based lubricant was linked to higher pleasure and satisfaction ratings than no lubricant (Herbenick et al., 2011). This is an association, not proof, and it looked at specific products, but it supports the usual advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best anal toy for a couple starting out? The smallest comfortable size, with a flared base, that you both understand how to use. Simple often beats feature-rich. SVAKOM's guide to the best anal vibrator for beginners goes deeper.

Can we share one toy? Yes, with a new condom for each person and thorough cleaning. Do not move from anal to vaginal use without doing both.

My Professional Opinion

Remote control and app features add fun, but they also add things to agree on. My advice is to choose the simplest toy that fits the two of you, talk about control and limits before you start, and treat pain as information. The best toy is the one both of you feel safe using.

And if what you are going through goes beyond choosing a toy, such as fear, pain or tension in the relationship, that can be worked on, and you do not have to do it alone.
