스톤월 항쟁에 대한 모든 것

1969년 6월 28일, 뉴욕에 위치한 스톤월 인이라는 펍에서 경찰이 LGBT + 커뮤니티를 상대로 단속을 실시했습니다. 이로 인해 대규모 시위가 발생하였고, 이는 LGBT + 커뮤니티의 권리를 위한 첫 번째 투쟁이 되었습니다.

1950년과 1960년 사이에 공개적으로 동성애자를 받아들이는 시설은 거의 없었고, 대부분은 바였다.

이전에 경찰의 게이 바 단속은 이미 일상이었지만, 이번 사건은 모든 한계를 완전히 초과했다.

수천 명의 동성애자와 트랜스젠더 사람들이 공개적으로 굴욕을 당하고, 성적 괴롭힘을 당하며, 해고되거나, 감금되거나, 정신병원에 수용되었습니다.

스톤월 인은 그리니치 빌리지 지역의 크리스토퍼 스트리트 51번과 53번에 위치해 있으며, 트랜스 사람들을 받아들인 유일한 바였습니다.

급습 중에 트랜스 여성들은 군인 신분증으로 신원을 확인했으며, 체포되지 않기 위해 최소한 세 개의 남성 의류를 착용해야 했다.

소란이 일어난 날, 네 명의 경찰관이 정문을 통해 바에 들어가 음악을 끄고, 문을 닫고, 전화를 사용하여 추가 지원을 요청했다.

근로자들과 바 손님들이 체포되었고, 내부와 외부의 더 많은 사람들이 경찰에 의해 심하게 폭행당하고 있었다.

약 45분 동안 지속된 소란 중에 한 사람이 바에 연료를 뿌리고 불을 질렀고, 이후 소방관들이 도착하여 불을 껐습니다.

그들은 13명을 체포했으며, 다른 사람들은 병원에 실려 갔고, 네 명의 경찰관이 부상을 입었으며, 거의 전체 시설 내부가 파괴되었습니다.

이 끔찍한 비극이 발생한 지 6개월 후, 뉴욕에서 두 개의 활동가 조직이 만들어져 시위를 벌이고 그들의 권리를 홍보하게 되었다.

스톤월 인 시위의 첫 번째 기념일은 1970년 6월 28일에 기념되었으며, 역사상 첫 번째 LGBT + 프라이드 행진이 되었습니다.

2016년 6월 24일, 미국의 전 대통령 바락 오바마는 스톤월 인 바를 LGBT+ 커뮤니티의 권리를 위한 투쟁의 역사를 기념하는 첫 번째 국가 기념물로 선언했다.

오늘은 뉴욕에서 발생한 폭동의 50주년을 기념하는 날입니다. 그러나 수년이 지난 지금도 LGBT + 커뮤니티에 대한 폭력을 근절하기 위해 해야 할 일이 여전히 많습니다.
