雙性戀意識日是如何起源的？

How Did Bisexuality Awareness Day Originate?

1990年代初，各種雙性戀組織開始形成，尤其是在美國。然而，國際日是在1999 年國際男女同性戀、雙性戀、跨性別和雙性人協會(ILGA) 年會上設立的，這要歸功於三位雙性戀活動家：溫蒂·庫裡(Wendy Curry)、麥可‧佩奇(Michael Page) 與吉吉‧雷文‧威爾伯(Gigi Raven Wilbur)。

之所以選擇這個日期，是因為9 月23 日是弗雷迪·墨丘利(Freddie Mercury) 的出生日，這位歌手受到活動人士的欽佩，在他們看來，他有力地凸顯了雙性戀。另外，那天也是吉吉·雷文·威爾伯的生日。

不過，威爾伯表示，距離雙性戀群體得到承認還有很長的路要走。

「自從石牆叛亂以來，同性戀群體的力量和知名度不斷增強。雙性戀群體也在不斷壯大，但在許多方面我們仍然是隱形的。我也受到了社會的影響，會根據我對每個人的性別認知，自動將一對牽手行走的情侶標記為異性戀或同性戀，」他向 ILGA 解釋道。

關於雙性戀群體的神話

確實，有些同性戀者可能會經歷一段向性取向的過渡期，但這不是規則：並非在所有情況下都會發生。雙性戀不應該被忽視，也不應該與任何人在生命中某個時刻可能產生的性好奇心混淆。

這種雙性戀恐懼症的刻板印象植根於這樣一種觀念，即雙性戀是回歸異性戀之前的實驗階段。然而，與異性保持關係並各自保持不同的性取向是可能的。

有時，人們在異性戀關係中決定對自己的雙性戀保持沉默，因為擔心如果伴侶或家人知道他們的性取向，他們可能會面臨歧視或拒絕。

為什麼雙性戀值得尊重？

雙性戀是一種與其他性取向一樣有效的性取向。它不是一個舞台，也不代表混亂，每個人都以獨特的方式生活。重要的是，必須消除這些陳規定型觀念，以便承認他們的權利，並鼓勵更多人毫無恐懼地表達自己的意見。
