L'embauche de Sampaio intervient des mois après que la marque de lingerie a été sévèrement critiquée pour les déclarations du responsable marketing de Victoria's Secret, Ed Rezek, qui a expliqué pourquoi Victoria's Secret n'engageait pas de modèles grande taille ou de transsexuels : "Et pourquoi pas ?
